The Frédéric Chopin and George Sand Museum at the Charterhouse in Valldemossa is celebrating its ninetieth anniversary, and the Pianino concerts, suspended for the past two years, are returning. As a prelude to the concert, there will be a talk by Swiss musicologist, Professor Jean-Jacques Eigeldinger, an authority on Chopin, whose work has included studies of Chopin’s stylistic devices, such as those of the 24 Preludes.
Chopin wrote some of these short pieces when he stayed at the Charterhouse over the winter of 1838 to 1839, and all of the pieces that pianist Paula Rios will perform were composed in Valldemossa.
